Programs at The Museum, Culinary & Clay Studios

Our daily Museum Programs bring learning to life through an ever-changing lineup of interactive activities. Whether you’re joining a program on the museum floor, exploring our culinary sessions, or getting creative in the clay studio—including free clay play during Open Studio—there’s always a new way to engage your child's curiosity.

Every program is intentionally designed to help children grow through art, STEAM, literacy, music, and both fine and gross motor skills. Whether they are building, cooking, or creating, your child is gaining essential tools to learn and develop through play.

3-D Drawing

Come hone your skills with the latest “freehand” 3-D printing technology, and take home your creation!

This art experience is designed to help the youngest artists explore the fine arts and the people who created them. From Jackson Pollock to Frank Lloyd Wright, these are just some of the names and artist styles that will be explored in this program.

Book Nook
Book Nook Storytime

We invite you to join us for a fun story time! Kids, make sure to come back regularly! Consistent participation in our story time program will help you earn exciting prizes and rewards! Don't forget to check out The Book Nook Library! Searching for the perfect book to support your child and family? Let us help! Our lending library is stocked with books covering a variety of topics, where representation matters—find stories that celebrate your child's unique identity!

Cardboard Creations

Utilizing the latest in child-safe cardboard cutting technology, including Hand saws, screwdrivers, folding tools, hole poking tools, and table saws, participants will take a hands-on approach to building items out of cardboard. Shields, cat houses, and flowers are all just a few of the items that have been made from recycled materials through a based program.

Earth Movers Program
Earth Movers In Action!

We're pulling out the big equipment for this program. Bulldozers, dumptrucks, and Backhoes are just some of the Tools that are used in this real-world simulation of a job site. Gear up with hard hats and high visibility vests as you explore safety concepts while working with “machines”.

Bring your tiny garden dreams to reality! This hands-on session focuses on design, fine motor skills, and creative problem-solving as you construct a unique fairy-sized habitat.

This music-based program is designed with the youngest museum goers in mind. Nursery rhymes, soft tones, and follow-along activities are just a few of the highlights in this musical experience

Be a musical explorer! Listen carefully to music while playing games and making art.

The Makery-Program
The Makery

The Makery offers new, weekly provocations that invite children to explore, experiment, and express themselves. Whether following the week’s theme or working on a self-directed masterpiece, your little builder will find everything they need to let their creativity shine.

Mask Makers

We are making masks! Kitty masks, Masquerade ball masks, and original masks never before seen are what this program is all about! Come as you are, leave as wild as you want to be!

Masterbuilder
Master Builder

In this brick building program, participants will be provided with a rainbow assortment of building bricks and an opportunity to build their creation. When complete, the creation will be put on display for the next week to help spark the imagination of onlookers.

Sound Painting

The demonstration of the harmonic frequencies and their influence on movement is what this program is all about. Does the music make you feel, and how does that feeling translate into a different form of artistic expression? Come explore these concepts and more in our Sound Painting program.

Springtime Craft Corner

In our springtime craft corner at the Tinker bar, we will be exploring spring-themed crafts such as handprint Butterflies and flowers! We will also be exploring Irish heritage cultural themes, such as Celtic knots and Irish flags!

The Great Dinosaur Dig

For the Prehistoric enthusiasts out there we are offering a loose parts dinosaur bones discovery program. In this activity Participants will explore the various skeletal remains of a mystery dinosaur, attempting to piece together what kind of creature it could have been.

Yeti Sledding
Yeti Sledding

You don't have to drive all the way to the mountains to go sledding when we have the biggest little mountain in downtown Medford right here at the museum! Grab a sled and have a seat in this program that encourages participation from all ages!

Drop-in Kitchen @ The Culinary Studio 

Get ready to chop, mix, and measure! Kids can dive into our fun, hands-on Drop-in Kitchen to learn new kitchen techniques and culinary skills while preparing the recipe of the day. 

Clay Play at the Children's Museum of Southern Oregon
Clay Play @ The Clay Studio

Explore your creativity with Free Clay Play! Follow our self-guided instructions to make a masterpiece. All materials are provided and stay in the studio to be recycled after you're done. Available during Open Studio hours—come get messy!
