The Annex

The Children's Museum of Southern Oregon has a Clay and Culinary Studio, called The Annex. Located just across the museum, The Annex offers visitors a chance to experience the art of clay and culinary skills.

The Clay Studio at the Annex

 The Clay Studio at the Annex is open to guests with museum admission or museum membership.

Open Studio

  • Walk-in

  • Paint bisque (Purchase Necessary)

  • Take home clay designs (Purchase Necessary)

  • Free clay play: Explore with clay

Programs

  • FREE Program with Museum Admission or Membership

  • Instructor-led

  • Arrive on time for the Program for ample project time.

  • Skill/technique practice

  • Pieces and materials will remain at the clay studio afterwards to be recycled.

May 21st-25th:

The Pinch Pot Method; Making Succulents

Practice building your pinch pot skills in the free program. Learn to combine pieces by slipping and scoring.

May 28th -31st: Textures and Designs; Tree Bark

 Make tree texture using real bark! Experiment with the different faces and textures of trees.

Workshops

  • Purchase necessary

  • Instructor-led

  • Arrive on time for the Workshop for ample project time.

  • Take home the completed piece

  • Requires 3 Visits

    • Make

    • Paint: Purchase the add-on

    • Pickup: Collect your completed items within 30 days of notification; otherwise, they will be considered a donation to the museum.

May 21st-31st:

Father’s Day Carving on Coaster

Make a gift for Father’s Day! Cut out a circle or square coaster and paint. Carve your choice of words for a lasting and usable note to Dad. Be sure to come in by May 30th to create your coasters in time for Father's Day

The Culinary Studio at the Annex

 The Culinary Studio at the Annex is open to guests with museum admission or museum membership.

The Culinary Studio hosts popular programs such as Fun with Food. This exciting program is offered at no extra charge with museum admission. Families are encouraged to arrive promptly at program time to participate. Working with our skilled instructors, you'll prepare a dish together that will take the full hour to complete – from preparation to consumption and cleanup. Don't miss out on this fantastic opportunity!

Fun with Food

These programs are free with admission to the museum. Families will need to arrive at the start of the program at 2pm to participate as they are going to be working together to make a dish with our instructors and it will take the whole hour to prepare the food, eat, and clean up.

Drop-in Kitchen

Drop-in Kitchen is a casual cooking class where participants can freely cook dishes that require more time.

In this class, the instructor can provide individualized guidance to each participant.
